People ask me if I’m devastated. I say “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” (2 Corinthians 4:8-9)
It is amazing to see so many wonderful people working together to help people in need! We fed HUNDREDS of people today, removed debris, salvaged possessions, prayed with the grieving, gave away clothes, supplies, water, etc. Thank you God for using our church to help people!
Tomorrow’s needs:
1. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, we need volunteers at 6:30 a.m. at the BSU on Duquesne Road (north of MSSU) to fix breakfast for relief workers. FIRST you must email Leetta Wilson to let her know you are coming .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
2. At 8:00 a.m. we need guys to help with debris removal and the salvage of people’s possessions. There is a new rule that people have to have permits so by arriving at 8:00 a.m. we can help you know what to do so you’ll be allowed into the devastated area.
3. At 9:00 a.m. we need volunteers at our bus barn to help receive, sort, and distribute items. The bus barn is on Highview just southwest of our church building.
4. Need volunteers all day at the church to do the same there.
5. Need volunteers to fix sack lunches and food at 9:00 a.m.
6. Need volunteers to deliver sack lunch at 11:00 a.m. Arrive early to find out how to get a permit to be in the areas of need.
7. We need the following supplies: brown paper sacks for the sack lunches, ziplock sandwich bags, saran wrap, prepackaged snacks, rain ponchos, baby items, PLASTIC TUBS with lids for people to store their salvaged possessions in (big need for these).
8. Donations to Forest Park Baptist Church Tornado Relief Fund (we are helping people who have nothing left).
9. Prayers. One of our pastors was giving out food at the very time a family uncovered their 12 year old son. He ministered to them.
Please pray for the hurting and for those ministering to them. I’d type more but the sirens just went off…got to get under the house in our crawlspace!

Hey John, You may not remember me. I use to live across the hall from you during our days at SBU. I feel for you brother as you lead your church family through this great disaster. My turn came in 2008 during the Iowa flood. God is going to do things you can’t even imagine. Please let me know and the Southern Baptist Family in Iowa know if there is anything we can do. We are just waitng for our marching orders from the SBC DR team in Joplin. WE are praying for you. Pastor Dan Doolin

Hi. I am really sorry for yet another savage tornado that has obliderated another comuunity in the USA.
Just got back from Birmingham with SP when I got the news of Joplin.
I am trying to get out to help you all but getting off from work and driving a couple of days are, for right now, obstacles. Say a prayer that God will provide a way for me to come out to help my fellow Americans, neighbors and strangers.
